Network and Internet Browser Compatibility
The Network is built on Microsoft Windows SharePoint Service 3.0 technology (WSS 3.0). SharePoint (and thus the Network) is only 100% compatible ("Level 1" performance) with Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) 6.0 or higher according to Microsoft. "Level 2" Web browsers (e.g. FireFox 3.x and Safari 3.x) provide basic functionality so that users can both read and write in SharePoint sites. However, ActiveX controls are supported only in level 1 browsers. In addition, there are functionality differences between different browsers. As a result, there might be a user experience that is different from that in level 1 browsers.
Participation in discussion boards is only robustly feasible in IE.
